Course Description:
This course overviews the DSM-5 criteria for ADD/ADHD with emphasis on creating treatment interventions for both adults, teens and children. The course is a video course in two parts, with the first focused on diagnosis and the second on interventions. Practical skills are taught and demonstrated throughout this video presentation.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the professional will be able to:
1.) Use the DMS-5 criteria for the diagnosis of ADD and ADHD
2.) Direct both clients, families and schools in methods of decreasing severity of client condition.
3.) Access situational supports and train clients in skill building methods of decreasing distressing symptoms.
4.) Use mindfulness based intervention as a foundation for developing clarity, focus, and attention
5.) Guide clients in both behavioral and emotional techniques that benefit the client
6.) Understand the role of medication, the limits of medication, and how to function with physicians in treatment of client condition.
