Course Description:
This course teaches professionals how to help people who have killed other people in a variety of scenarios deal with the trauma and impact of such actions. Topics include those who have killed in war, in law enforcement, by accident, and those who have killed with intention. Attention is paid to many factors in each event, and information is supplied regarding resources, interventions and approaches for dealing with this very important topic.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the professional will be able to:
1.) Assess impact for the clients frame of reference
2.) Provide client support in the form of therapeutic intervention
3.) Direct clients in processes for forgiveness, acceptance, and mindfulness
4.) Assess client situational supports
5.) Equip clients with coping strategies from a bio-psycho-spiritual model of wellness.
